Black Currant Benefits and its Brain Boost

Black Currant Benefits and its Brain Boost-http://thymetoembraceherbs.com

School is about to start and everyone is frantically buying school clothes and school supplies. They are trying to find the perfect backpack.  For some, school has been put on the shelf for two or three months.  Discover black currant benefits and its brain boost for back to school!

Children who have not done any reading all summer or practiced flash cards may struggle a bit upon starting school.  They may have to relearn some of the concepts previously learned during the past school year.  It may be a struggle.  But why go through all that when black currants can help?

Black currants are mostly grown in Europe, Asia, and New Zealand. They are only grown in some states in the U.S. because they transmit a fungus that kills pine trees.  A close sister is the blueberry, a berry that I am more familiar with.

Black Currant Benefits:

  • Treat kidney stones
  • Ease coughs
  • Boost immune system
  • Decrease inflammation
  • Battle cancer
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Stimulate memory
  • Remedy insect bites

Some Cautions…

Avoid during pregnancy and lactation.

My Final Thoughts…

With the start of school fast approaching, it is time to not only think of school clothes or the ordering of uniforms, shopping for all the school supplies, but also to equip that brain in the very best possible way.  While there is no one way to do that, the use of black currants certainly boost that brain!

If you are still doing some camping and forgot the Deet, I love how black currant can help those insect bites too!  But even if you did have the insect repellant, maybe you didn’t get it on in time. Nothing is more aggravating than itching bites.

Black currant is not a berry I am very familiar with, probably because it is not commonly grown in the U. S.  And unfortunately, I have not traveled to Europe.  We do have black currant flavored products here, that I will have to be on the lookout for.

So amidst all the clothes shopping and all the pencils and paper, don’t forget the black currant back to school brain boost!  Need some black currant?  Get some shipped right to your door!

Let’s Talk…

What have you used black currant for? Let me know in the comments.

Blackcurrants are incredibly popular over here in England. Children love the flavour of drinks made with them and they are used in so many other things as well. I didn’t realise how healthy they were though. I’m more a blueberry fan myself but it’s good to know blackcurrants are so good for me too. Thank you for being a part of the Hearth and Soul Hop.
