Tarragon is one of those herbs I am sure I have never used before.  It is not very common in the U.S.  But in France, now that’s a different story.  It is one of four herbs used in the finest French cooking.  They call it the ‘king of herbs.’ It tastes like anise.  Historically it was used to flavor food for feasts and weddings.  It can be used like salt, but without its negative effects.

It can be used fresh in salad, as it claims lettuce as family!  Though because of its size, it probably will not stand alone.  I make a lot of salads and I can’t wait to try this!

Fresh tarragon used in cooking as medicinally is the best, as the dried form loses some flavor.  So its best to buy a plant, where its at your fingertips.  I bought mine at Home Depot.  I guess now that I have a tarragon plant I can flavor my food with it and feel like the rich and famous!

Some Final Musings

Tarragon is just one of those hidden treasures.  Such health wrapped up in so much extricate beauty.  Packed with vitamins and minerals, it is just waiting to be discovered.  Beyond that, its usefulness in hot flashes, hyperactivity, learning disorders, stress reduction, sleep inducing…Was there something there that applied to you?  There are no side effects, so what do you have to lose?

    Cool! I need to try tarragon, my hot flashes make me miserable sometimes. I got off my hormones when my mom was diagnosed with hormonal breast cancer caused from her body making to much hormones. And here I am taking extra so I got off. But had to get back on I was so miserable, so I half them now but still have the hot flashes just not quite as bad. Would love to find a natural remedy. One that helps you sleep better is a plus. Thanks for sharing!
